Tools for Integrated Management of Biomass Energy Resources (TIMBER)
TIMBER brings together partners from regions in the UK, Spain, Sweden, Holland and Poland to address the knowledge, supply, demand and financial barriers currently obstructing the development of Biomass resources. This information will be used to develop standardised tools which will help to increase the uptake of biomass-based energy across the partner regions.
Value: €120,000
Partners:
Municipality of Boxtel,Holland, Energy Agency of Cadiz,Andalucia, Polish Academy of Sciences (MEERI), Stockholm County Council, Buckinghamshire County Council, Chilterns Conservation Board, Wycombe District Council, The Forestry Commission (South East England)
Funders:
TIMBER has been funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Interreg IVC POWER programme.
Approach:
Each of the five regions has varying experience and expertise in the development and implementation of Biomass Energy solutions, associated with their unique regional environment and resource. The partnership will share experiences from their own projects to develop a common model which will in turn be applicable to other, often different regions.
Outputs:
Development of a number of studies into the Biomass energy market in the United Kingdom
The use and economic viability of small biomass boilers in Buckinghamshire
The current and future energy crop capacity & market demand
A practical model for achieving a consistency of supply in energy crops
A practical system for collecting and processing energy crops
A practical model for supplying biomass energy to end users
A Biomass Energy Plan
