Woodfuel WIG bows out with another stellar year
The Woodfuel Woodland Improvement Grant (Woodfuel WIG), managed by Ngage Solutions on behalf of the Forestry Commission, culminated this year with a grand total of £5 million awarded to businesses across the South East, South West and Cumbria.
The main aim of the Woodfuel WIG was to help reduce England’s CO₂ emissions by increasing the availability and use of sustainably grown wood as a substitute for fossil fuels.
Kevin May of the Forestry Commission explained “This was the first time Forestry Commission had used an external partner for grant delivery and it was able to test alternative approaches to delivery, relationships, communications and achieving successful outcomes.”
The grants supported 237 businesses to deliver 310 woodland schemes with grants of over £5 million – and identified a whopping 825,000 tonnes of CO2 savings.
Here’s one happy grant recipient:
“The Woodfuel WIG application process was straightforward and the team were extremely helpful throughout. They were able to answer any queries I had and were always very easy to contact when we needed support.” – Daniel Cuillin, Land Agent
