The Pitch (Mini Dragons’ Den)
In 2006 SEEDA, Invest MK, HEIF, SBS, and Arcadia Foundation contracted Ngage to promote and manage an exciting and innovative enterprise project which would encourage young entrepreneurs to develop new business concepts.
Working in partnership with Countec MK Education Business Partnership, Oxfordshire Education Business Partnership and Cranfield University, the challenge was to create a high level “buzz” around entrepreneurship in the Thames Valley Region region.
Drawing on the success of a popular television programme “Dragons’ Den”, the scheme took participants through a series of specialist workshops helping them to develop their business ideas to investment readiness – ready to pitch their idea to a real panel of outside investors.
The Pitch culminated in a high profile event just following Enterprise Week in November 2006. The project engaged and supported 120 young entrepreneurs between the ages of 14 and 30, 30 of whom participated in Investment Readiness workshops.
The award-winning, educational learning games services for teachers and pupils that makes every lesson memorable. That supports the delivery of the successful integration of digital media into teaching and learning.
Six young entrepreneurs went forward for investment funding and took part in the final event in November 2006.
Four local bona fide investors sat on the panel and selected three of the six pitchers to invest in on the night of the event, and a further two participants on the Pitch project.
The total investment secured was £1.7 million.
